Well ~ there are a couple of NLQ blog readers who liked having all those comments right there with the posts ~ and they're reluctant to come over to the new NLQ forums. 2spb.blogspot.com/2009/04/introducing-nlq-forums.htmlAnybody want to post a response and maybe encourage them to give it a try over here? That thread is still open for comments on the blog.

I think if you link in each new post to the thread about it on this forum that would work.. personally I find this more readable but I do think the point about two places is a valid one. Still, why not try it?

Truthfully, when I woke up this morning and checked the forums ~ saw all the organization and how easy it is to follow the various conversations here ~ I breathed a huge sigh of relief. To me, the comments over on the blog were just a big sprawling mess ~ and since I had to moderate every comment, whenever I was away from my computer for any length of time, the comments would pile up and I couldn't *really* get away because I was thinking about the readers who were waiting to see their comment show up and any responses. Several people remarked that it was frustrating when the comments would be approved in blocks making the flow of conversation difficult to follow. Since only members can post here (guests can view, but not post) ~ I feel comfortable turning off the moderation feature and trusting the members to continue the NLQ "tradition" of respectful dialogue. So ~ while I spent a good portion of the day with John (today's his birthday) ~ the conversation here went right on without me ~ hooray! It definitely gives me, at least, the sense that this is *our* forum ~ with no need for me to be constantly at the computer controlling it all. It looks like this format will also free me up to spend more time writing my story ~ which I just know you all are anxious to for me to get on with We've only had this forum up for one day ~ and look at all the wonderful intros ~ I feel like we're finally getting to know each other. It makes it easy to put stories to names. I will be linking all posts on the NLQ blog to their appropriate board or sub-board for discussion here in the forums. I'm also planning to open a new category (coming SOON) in which guests are free to leave comments without registering or signing in ~ so they can have their say too ~ although spam and similar junk posts will be removed. Thanks for all of your input. I welcome your suggestions. P.S. ~ isn't that little kissing smiley adorable? LOL

Truthfully I had to skip a lot of blog comments because they were so long, (looking longer in that format too) and there were too many. Not being able to see latest comments past 5 wasn't helpful either. I think this is much more readable and workable.

Vyckie, this is much better! I also agree that the comments had gotten too long. Those who want to read the blog can do that, and leave comments here...or you could let people leave comments after the blog posts for say, 24 hours (if it is possible to do that.) as a compromise if you feel so inclined.

I agree, I, too, prefer the forum. For one thing, the blog comments on the really long threads always took a while before loading *grr*
And I also really like the introduction section - I think all in all it will make us a tighter community.

I like the forum setup too if for no other reason then it allowed Vyckie to spend much of my birthday day with me. And since she's having to take 3 of her daughters up to Shriners in Minneapolis come first of the week it would have left a lot of comments piling up much to the aggravation of the commenters. All in all, and as several folks have said, I think this is a much more workable program. JEB
