I'll be leaving early in the morning to take my girls, Berea, Chassé, and Hazelle to Shriners Children's hospital ~ they will all be having surgery on Thursday morning. Angel is coming along ~ which is going to be a huge help because I'm sure that I'll be feeling pretty overwhelmed when the girls start coming out of recovery one right after another. We worked it out so that I can drive the Salvation Army's van ~ hooray ~ that is really a life saver for us. I'm pretty sure I will have internet access at the hospital ~ so I'll be checking in when I can. It's always a very rushed and busy trip for me ~ so I probably won't get any posting done. I have noticed that whenever I am away from the computer, you all go crazy with posting so that when I return, there's all this interesting conversation going on that I've missed out on and there's no way that I can catch up. And then, when I'm home and available to respond to posts ~ it gets eerily quiet. So what's up with that? LOL That's okay ~ I'm actually glad that you all are joining in the discussions when you can ~ as always, I appreciate your thoughtful contributions to this NLQ community. So ~ take care. Y'all behave yourselves. I'll be home on Saturday. Vyckie

Hey Everyone! Just wanted to post a quick update to let you all know that the girls' surgeries all went very well yesterday morning. They are amazingly quick at recovery ~ Hazelle was up within just a couple of hours ~ went down to the rec. room to view an aquatic display that was put on by Underwater World (from the Mall of America). All three of them went to physical therapy in the afternoon to get their crutches and do a bit of walking. So ~ they're doing great and we're heading home just as soon as Angel & I can get everything packed up and ready to go. It'll be another long day of driving ~ but at least the Salvation Army van that we're borrowing is comfortable ~ and fun to drive. More later ~ looks like we have some very "interesting" discussions going on here which I'm anxious to get in on as soon as I get the girls home and settled. Take care!

Good news!
Praise the . . . good doctors, the spunky children, and their dedicated mother!

Well, all right! Vyckie and girls are safely home! Just talked to Vyckie at Walgreen's getting prescriptions filled, and the girls were at home watching TV. Various stages of owies and a little nausea from the anesthesia still kind of in their systems, but all in all, settling in early. That's a good thing...it's a might long and tiring drive, although Vyckie said coming home was way shorter than going up there...always seems that way, doesn't it?

Yes, thanks for the update. How wonderful that the surgeries all went very well.
Austinavery, I liked your post. Oh yes, on a QF blog this would definitely be a time for a "praise the Lord" (I don't think there's anything wrong with a praise the Lord every now and then... but the overuse of it can be pretty annoying. It becomes such a hollow phrase then, and a way to avoid really saying something, it can even be a phrase that makes God small (Please people if there's a God, God is most certainly more than someone who helps you find your toothbrush). My Muslim friend, OK ex-friend, I think we're definitely not friends anymore, uses "Allah" in every other sentence. And that's very very very annoying)

Thanks for all the well-wishes and kind notes ~ the surgeries all went very well ~ and now we're back home and settling in again. Mom came this morning to help out ~ got the girls bathed and also did some cleaning for us. Thanks, Mimi!
Since I haven't been able to do much at the computer for a while, I've got lots of catching up to do. So ~ if you've sent me a PM lately ~ I'll respond just as quick as I can. I'm also hoping to get some pics up over on the family blog from our trip to the hospital.
While we were in Minneapolis, I did an interview with a news reporter regarding QF and the situation with Carri. The reporter came to Shriners along with her camera man ~ first time I've done a TV interview, so I was nervous to start with ~ but I was able to relax after a while and I think (hopefully) that I made some sense and was able to speak clearly about the potential for danger and unnecessary risk-taking for pregnant moms in the QF/P lifestyle. I'm not sure when the segment will be aired ~ as soon as I know, I'll post the info.
If there is anyone reading here from Minnesota or Indiana ~ please send me a PM, okay?
Also ~ there is someone on the NLQ forums who participates over at Democratic Underground ~ I can't remember who ~ so if that's you and you're reading this, please send me a PM too.

I was wondering how both the surgeries and the interview went. I am very curious now to see the piece. Glad the surgeries went well and everyone is home in one piece again.
