Ack! I hope the recording will be posted somewhere after the show! I don't think I'll have a chance to listen tonight, but I'd love to listen later.

The show keeps an archive, so I think it's pretty easy to listen later.
YAY! I'm so glad I got the chance to hear Vyckie (and Cindy) talk about all of this.
I think it went very well!

I feel really bad now that I didn't hang up right away. I was hoping to ask Vyckie something I had not read before in her saga on NLQ, but the host nailed it before the show concluded. Gothard/Lindvall/Phillips and their ilk have the tradition of ecclesiocentricity wherein everyone who leaves without their permission or whatever, exiting their covering of protection, generally gets threatened with fear of harm, basically that "God is gonna get ya" for disobedience. I was told that something terrible would happen, that we'd loose our jobs, we'd get cancer, or if we had kids, they would die if we left without the elder's blessing. Adding this to the fact that most people loose their near-entire system of supports and such when they leave, I wondered if Vyckie had experienced this. I know that Vyckie talked about how her daughter's situation basically jettisoned her out of QF after getting some critical perspective back through her relationship with her uncle. Vyckie'd never talked about this aspect of the typical exit experience that I could recall. I'm glad it was marginalized by the whole experience, paling in comparison to the magnitude of her daughter's distress. What a way to get perspective, though! Anyway, I kept waiting for a chance to graciously ask, but I ended up opening my big mouth! ;D I'm tempted to swear off radio call in. It was so excited and happy for Vyckie, and it was really engaging. I was thrown by getting on the show so fast, and I blew it! They really need to have you back on, Vyckie! There's so much to talk about. They should call you back for a take on the Pearls. Mortified that I kept hanging on the line, I think I'm crawling back into blog oblivion! I regret that no one could see the look of sheer joy on my face as Vyckie described how her family has opened up and blossomed since they got out, particularly what she described about the changes in her son. I am so glad that Vyckie's out! I am so glad that people are talking about the whole mess, and I'm staying away from radio shows from now on!

I wouldn't feel bad, Cindy - you made lots of very good points, and you speak very clearly and well.
While I was listening, I thought that you had a very good 'radio person' voice.
I restricted myself to the chatroom for two reasons - one - I get excited and forget how to shut up, and two, I'm convinced I sound like a chipmunk on helium when I hear my own voice.
;D
I thought that you offered a very nice addition to all of Vyckie's story. You both had good complementary viewpoints, and I doubt she minds having another intelligent voice up there with her shouting the truth from the rooftops.

As for links, it's on the NLQ post for the radio show (which seems to be timesharing with the "NLQ Gets a Makeover" post in that top section. Wait a few minutes and it'll crossfade, or be like me and hit the reload button on your browser about 15 times ;D ) : nolongerquivering.com/2010/07/08/listen-to-vyckie-garrison-of-no-longer-quivering-on-the-god-discussion-radio-show-tonite-9-central/(my html is sucky, I know.) There is a little blue widget box in the post - plug in some headphones or speakers and press play. There is about 10 or 15 minutes of pre-show "current events" type news, mostly about religious subjects, before they intro Vyckie and start the show for real. What I can't find is the chat room archive - I don't know if they keep those. Which is a shame, because usotsuki (sp?) (usotsuki! Hah! I spelled it right!) and princessjo were there, and some others who may also be posters here. The actual site has a nice article here: www.goddiscussion.com/28955/a-powerful-personal-story-this-week-on-goddiscussion-the-quiverfull-movement-and-no-longer-quivering/It has a few YouTube videos, some nice intro information for people not familiar with the movement, and there's a link at the bottom to this page to the actual Quiverful Program page: www.blogtalkradio.com/god-discussion/2010/07/09/a-look-inside-the-quiverfull-movementThe little blue widget player box is on this page as well, with a shorter intro than what was on the earlier page. Hope that's helpful!

I sound deep and slurry when I hear my voice in playback. What I can't find is the chat room archive - I don't know if they keep those. Which is a shame, because usotsuki (sp?), and princessjo were there, and some others who may also be posters here. Yeah. My handle's a bit tricky to spell, but my actual name's even worse.

I'm convinced I sound like a chipmunk on helium when I hear my own voice. ;D I feel the same way about my voice too. Lol. I cannot stand to hear myself. But it does have its benefits, whenever telemarketers or whatever call I just play the "my mommy and daddy aren't home now" card. Heh.
