Here's some choice quotes from Rachel Scott's website which show her to be much less mainstream than she wishes to appear. This is reposted from the "attempt the impossible" thread. www.rachelscottsblog.com/The enemy is also preparing his army for battle. Believers do not need to fear the army of the enemy but we do need to be aware that they exist. On the other side there are children being born who already desire to promote the enemy’s agenda. Some are chosen in the womb through demonic rituals or other forms of evil. Some are birthed into this world and taught to hate. The only hope these children have is to find Christ, but until they do they will be increasingly susceptible to the deeds and plans of the enemy.
* * *
We are presently living in the last generations before Christ returns. The children that we are birthing right now are the beginnings of this end-time army of Mighty Warriors who will worship the Lord and prepare the way for His return. “
* * *
Several generations fell into Babylonian thinking (Babylon in scripture usually refers to human thinking and ideals) and the traditional family of: mother/father, a loving marriage that produces loving children, fell apart in both society and in churches. People left God's "ideal" and what resulted were 70+ years of pain and suffering for families.
WAS IT SIMPLY "COINCIDENCE" THAT NEARLY 70 YEARS AFTER THESE RULINGS AMERICA EXPERIENCED A "WAKE-UP" CALL IN THE EVENTS OF 9/11/01?

Yeah, I was surprised that Joy hadn't done her homework about this woman, or had it done for her, because usually on shows like that when the person is trying to lie the host calls them on it with a quote or two.

I'm glad to see that people are talking about this. I could not believe how badly she misrepresented QF, and yeah... I also thought it seemed like Joy hadn't done her homework and didn't know anything about where Rachel Scott was really coming from. I definitely appreciated Kathryn's and your contributions, though, because you helped to temper what she had to say. I mean, seriously? She said "God is a feminist" And that QF is going mainstream and that discouraging daughters from going to college is just a "small fringe element." I couldn't believe how falsely she represented this movement. Argh... Thanks, arietty, for posting some of her actual content here.

I could feel my blood pressure rise every single time Rachel Scott opened her mouth and uttered her happy shiny version of QF. I'm extremely disappointed that WE chose her for their show, she's not what I would consider a typical patriarchal QF type at all.
Vyckie you did well! You didn't lose your poise or cool and you were coherent. You didn't do what I probably would not have been able to resist, counter each of Rachel's similitudes with a reality check.
It's intimidating to do a show like that. Five years ago I came up against my kids school when the school called in the police to investigate a rumor on a kids blog and interrogated both of my kids and many others. The thing on the blog that was being investigated was some kid had posted a list of kids they did not like on their blog account. ALL the kids on that list were interrogated and treated like criminals and the school reacted as if this dislike list was a hit list. Long story short. I made a lot of noise about the stupidity of the school's reaction and was interviewed by most of the media outlets. I ended up as a guest on a segment of Bill O'Rielly show. It was a struggle to be natural with all the lights and whatnot. You handled it better than I.

You didn't do what I probably would not have been able to resist, counter each of Rachel's similitudes with a reality check. I would have done the same thing, but you seemed so calm and unfazed! And far from the question of whether or not she represented QF accurately, it seemed to me that she didn't even represent *herself* accurately.

Video here! Born to Breed?joybehar.blogs.cnn.com/Shoot, ladies. It's only a short bit focused on Rachel - but we can at least SEE Vyckie and Kathryn (kinda...) But, we have rough transcripts here (a little more than halfway down the page): transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0911/03/joy.01.htmlNote that I caught at least one instance of attributing words to the wrong person - that's why it's a rough transcript We're working to get Joy's people to upload a YouTube of the whole thing as I write this... Vyckie says "hello! and " to everyone from Minneapolis! She'll be home soon!

You were wonderful. I taped the show last night, watched it this morning. I used to homeschool, was the leader of a large group of all types of homeschoolers in a smaller city here in Canada. We had everyone from quiverfulls to hippies and it was quite a blast. You called it right though. I have seen what you describe.
(I am a christian of a protestant background but not a quiverfull type. I homeschooled because the kids asked and dh and I felt like that was our thing to do. I evolved our curriculum--hated the canned workbooks and other force fed stuff, ended up more of an unschooling philosophy. They grew up, got science degrees and are having happy healthy adult lives.)
You and that woman who wrote the book were clear and honest. That reflects what I saw.
And big congrats to you on leaving. My friend with 13 kids eventually left her husband too, but like you said, with that many it was very hard for her to contemplate.
I'm so glad you and she had the courage to do the right thing and leave.
And I am incredibly thankful you went on Joy Behar, and gave voice to some serious faults within that movement.
You go girl as they say! God bless you in your truthfulness. Truth really does set people free, and if other women like you and my friend were watching (or will watch on you tube) then what a gift for them to know they aren't alone.
God bless you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vyckie, you were great. You came across as honest and consistent. You gave input when you felt it would be useful, and managed to do it without getting all bulldogish (which I would totally have done). Rachel came across as nice and... well, as if she were trying to sugarcoat things. I mean, on the one hand she was talking about how equal her marriage was, but a few minutes later if I recall correctly she was gushing about the joys of submission. And her statement that she didn't know what the patriachary is was disingenuous at best. I got a little feeling as if she were desperately trying to defend QF without looking desperate. Although that might have been just me. Again though, Vyckie, great job
