Hey All!
After spending most of the day on the road, I'm now in St. Paul ~ got the girls settled in and we're about to hit the sack so we can get up early and head over to the hospital in the morning. We have two days of appointments ~ x-rays, check-ups, etc. I'm pretty sure that at least two of the girls will be needing surgery.
Thanks for all the well wishes. We've been doing this pretty much every Spring for the last 13 years ~ and although it's all very routine now, that doesn't mean that it is easy.
The good news is that Laura will be flying in to Minneapolis tomorrow afternoon ~ and we get to spend the week together. Fun, huh?
Lots of activity going on here at the NLQ forums in my absence ~ and I have to admit that I really, really wish that I could stay up half the evening and add my 2 cents to some of these conversations ~ you all are so engaging and thoughtful. But, alas ~ it's been a long day and now I must sleep!
I'll post an update when I get a chance tomorrow. Til' then ~ carry on! Take care.
Vyckie

Hi again
After spending all morning at the Shriners Children's Hospital, the girls and I are back at the motel ~ watching TV and relaxing.
The appointments went pretty much as expected ~ all three girls are in need of surgery ~ yikes. Berea and Chassé will be having bone spurs removed from their knees ~ Berea in two places on the same leg, Chassé will have some bumps excised from both legs. Those two have operations scheduled for June 25th. They are both scheduled for post-op check-ups on July 14th ~ and the next day, July 15th, Hazelle will have her surgery by a different surgeon ~ she needs to have tumors removed from one arm, her left knee and her right foot. Poor girls!
All three girls have appointments with the hand and arm specialist tomorrow ~ so it's possible that the surgery schedule could be changed around some ~ but basically ~ we're looking at all three girls having surgery early this summer.
As much as I am not looking forward to "surgery season" ~ I am extremely grateful for the quality medical care which the girls receive from this children's hospital. The staff are all wonderful ~ and since we've been doing this same routine once or twice a year for the past 13 years, the place is like a second home ~ so the girls feel fairly comfortable with the whole process.
So ~ next time you see the Shriners guys wearing those silly hats and driving their little cars in the parade or dressed up as clowns for the Shrine circus ~ be sure to support them ~ they're providing an incredible service.
Laura's on the plane ~ on her way here to Minneapolis ~ so we'll be seeing her soon. Woo hoo! I'm so excited.

Have fun with Laura!!!! I am sorry all your girls have to have surgery again though I can see you were expecting it. I am glad you can have some enjoyment from these big trips!
Laura, where is the Shriner's hospital? I live not too far from the big Shrine temple on Park Avenue, so I'm wondering if you're in my neighborhood.
p.s. maybe next year you can schedule for the first weekend in May and see our fabulous and heathen May Day parade? I have a big open house party for that every year and you all would sure be welcome. www.hobt.org/
