Okay ~ so here's my first "Bread & Butter" post ~ an ad blurb for Article Alley: nolongerquivering.com/2010/05/20/vyckies-bread-butter-post-article-alley/Writing it was not too much trouble ~ just needed 100 words plus a link ~ and that'll earn $19. Not too bad since it only took me a few minutes to write ~ I'm not counting all the interruptions which actually drug the process out for almost an hour ~ LOL I do think this website, Article Alley would be a good way to introduce folks to No Longer Quivering ~ if I ever get a few free minutes ~ I'll set up an author's account there and submit a few articles. "It's on my list!" BTW ~ thanks so much, Hillary ~ for the encouragement. I really will try to make the "Bread & Butter" posts as painless ~ possibly even funny ~ as possible!

Awesome, Kidly! I know you can do it! Wow! $19 is a lot of money to make in an hour, even if it did take an interrupted hour! And during the time when the kiddos are in school, no interruptions, you could write a bunch! Yeah, I know...another thing that's "on your list!" But hey! That's organization! Is it contagious? I need a list! Love and hugs!!!

Shoot, whatever you need to do to monetize this thing, Vyckie! Have you thought about having a "subscriber" or "supporter" button, maybe? Like silver or gold level members who contribute a flat X amount per year, or x amount per month? Sometimes seeing others with a certain "swag" to their posts makes people thing "Oh DUH! Yeah, I've been meaning to contribute something..." It's a thought at least

The amount of stuff I buy through Amazon monthly and I never realized I could click through NLQ and it would make a difference. Fail. I promise to click through, Vyckie. I actually keep a tab on Amazon open at all times because there is always something ordered/in processing/being delivered to my house. The Bread and Butter thing sounds wonderful and the article alley thing really sounds like it has a lot of promise. I also like that idea about 'member' donations at levels -- lots of charities do that. Be sure to follow whatever rules there are for taking donations -- I assume as long as you are crystal clear about what the money is for - income rather than 'charity' - it wouldn't require any special filings or anything. But you should check to make absolutely sure. I don't know, these thoughts just occur to me, I have no special knowledge about this. Too many words again. Sorry. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I will support whatever you decide to do and hope things work out for you. You deserve it, you're doing a good work here.

Far out, lady! (Does clicking through on these links make any difference? Apologies if you already said. More apologies if I don't make any sense - I just got up!)

wow - here's a funny coincidence.
I somehow missed a credit card payment last month, and the nice credit card people didn't tell me about it, they just suspended my account. I found out about it when I did my monthly secret guilty pleasure shopping trip from Amazon and all of the sales were cancelled due to non-payment.
Now I have that all fixed, just in time to come here and read that I can help a sister out by clicking through here before I buy stuff with Amazon!
Such good timing I have!
Question for Vyckie - is it better for you if I click through and buy one thing, and then click through again and buy another thing, for more individual sales? Or do you get $$ per item if I order everything all at once from one click-through?
And don't worry about the hassle or shipping of multiple orders, I get most of my things through their independent sellers so they always come separately anyway.

Well .. not the part about your credit card company denying your Amazon payment ... LOL You only need to click through once ~ and everything that you purchase during that visit will earn a commission for NLQ. However, once you leave the site (log out) ~ you would need to re-enter through the NLQ ad if you decide to add to your order or place a new order. Thanks again

Can you tell who caused the commission to be credited to you? Just curious. I don't have a problem with it, just wondered if it was that specific. I just clicked through to Amazon, wandered around a while there, and bought something. I am assuming that is what counts, right? It doesn't matter how long I wander around the site as long as I actually buy something before I close out my session at Amazon? I just want to make sure I do it so that you get the credit. It would be a shame if I did it wrong and you never got any credit for it.

Man, am I glad that I saw the information about the pay pal account. This is something that I've wanted to do for a long time- and now NLQ gets money for it! Awesome!!!!

I'm sorry to say it as they are the more profitable option, but the full-page ads are extremely jarring and annoying. I already feel beset with lots of distracting images when I read the NLQ blog, and having more boxes thrown in my face is confusing.

As long as they show up a few seconds into the page so you can tell you are the right place I'm fine with them. Especially since they generate much needed cash for you. On another note, how come some of the more senior members no longer have their 'status' showing up under their names? The statuses and stars are obviously missing now. Just curious.

Those of us who no longer have statuses show up were part of the NLQ Carnival moderators group during the NLQ Carnival in November. Putting us into that group erased our statuses and Vyckie hasn't been able to figure out how to restore them even though the Carnival Moderators group no longer exists.

Those of us who no longer have statuses show up were part of the NLQ Carnival moderators group during the NLQ Carnival in November. Putting us into that group erased our statuses and Vyckie hasn't been able to figure out how to restore them even though the Carnival Moderators group no longer exists. I think this is fixed now ~ I had to add the group "NLQ Carnival Moderators" group again in order to get those members' stars and ranks back. I also changed the top rank on the forum from "God" to "Prime Member" ~ I agree with whoever it was that thought it was ironic that members at NLQ are posting their way to Godhood ~ LOL Okay ~ and on another note ~ several of you mentioned the idea of having to option of subscriptions for NLQ forum members with those who contribute receiving a special designation in their profile status. I've been thinking about this more and I think it could be a workable alternative to the full-page ads on the NLQ blog. Shall we give it a try? I have created a new forum group called "NLQ Supporting Members" ~ and added SargassoSea as our first member so you all can check out her profile and let me know how you like it: nolongerquivering.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=viewprofile&user=sargassosea (Thanks so much for your continued support, Sea!) "NLQ Supporting Members" get their names in cool green (the color of money ~ LOL), with green stars. Like it? If you'd like to be added to the "NLQ Supporting Members" group ~ you can send a paypal donation of any amount ... or: join the No Longer Eating Crappy Pizza Club which is a monthly sponsorship through paypal. To make a one-time or monthly donation, go here: nolongerquivering.com/2009/09/23/join-the-no-longer-eating-crappy-pizza-club-%E2%80%B9o¿o%E2%80%BA/For those, like Sea, who join the NLECP Club ~ contributing on a monthly basis, the special "NLQ Sponsor" button will be added to your profile too. If we can get enough supporting members ~ we can keep the NLQ blog free of the annoying full-page ads. I really do appreciate all the readers who are willing to put up with the ads in order to help make the website profitable ~ but I am concerned that new visitors will be put off by the ads before they really get a chance to dig into the articles and discover what NLQ is all about. To sweeten the deal ~ I've created a private board here on the forum, "Vyckie's Speakeasy": nolongerquivering.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=speakeasy ~ a supporting-members only spot where I will share: the password to access "Vyckie's Story" on the blog, letters from my correspondence with my Uncle Ron, and whatever other "exclusive" info. I can think of to share ~ stuff that I wouldn't want to write quite so freely about on the blog or forum. How's that sound? Of course, I'm open to ideas ~ so if there are any special privileges, etc. which you'd like to see included as a benefit for the "NLQ Supporting Members" group ~ just let me know. I hate to be always talking about raising money here ~ my goal is to get something figured out that actually does bring in income without running off all the readers ~ and once we have some sort of workable system in place ~ I promise to quiet down about it. ;D

I can't read the names in green - not enough light/dark contrast with the ice-blue background of the theme I am using. Plus they give me a bit of a headache Maybe a darker green, like the actual ink on money?

I second the shade of green thing. I look at my name and I know it's me but it's hard to tell. It just kind of glows, like radioactivity....

A couple pay per post articles this morning: nolongerquivering.com/2010/06/11/vyckies-bread-butter-posts-i-signed-up-for-socialspark/nolongerquivering.com/2010/06/11/vyckies-bread-butter-posts-choose-natural/I'm not meaning to have NLQ overtaken with sponsored posts ~ it's just that I'm trying out SocialSpark in the hopes of getting more offers and I had a deadline for getting that first post up. So far, I've earned $58 from the four pay per post articles that I've done ~ which I think is a good deal so long as you all can tolerate them. And I am being selective ~ I had an offer to write for a payday advance loan company ~ the offer states: Feel free to be creative but also include some unique things that MoneyNowUSA offers. Honestly, even if you don't like or approve of payday loans you can still take this offer. If you want to write more of a caution about payday loans instead of a promotion, we DON'T mind!!! Check out our articles, they aren't all fluffy on payday loans. So please please reconsider writing about this topic we pay well for high PR site posts. Um ... no thanks! I'm planning to write another MOTH post later today: Update on me ~ and I also have a new post in the "Testing the Spirit of Quiverfull" series.
