Hi everyone, my name is Jeanne, and I'm a compulsive lurker. I registered months ago, but posted something for the first time yesterday. I'm 21 years old, from Louisiana, and currently pursuing my undergraduate degree in foreign languages (French, specifically). I was raised Catholic, but I guess I'm best described as agnostic. I don't have any personal connection to QF, but I have a kind of morbid fascination with it. I often find things I completely disagree with very interesting. Not quite sure what else to say. I'm single with no children (and I don't know if I ever want any children). I'm queer/bi/questioning...not really sure about that because I've never dated anyone. (Is that even an appropriate thing to put in an introduction?) Have I mentioned that I'm intensely socially awkward? I also enjoy science fiction, tv, dressing up and going to Renaissance Faires, fangirling, and cute, furry animals. So...allons-y! Edit: Ah! My attachment is all wonky! But I don't know how to get rid of it. Sorry. Attachments:

Welcome Jeanne.
You are by far not the only science fiction or ren fest fan around here.
Do you go to science fiction conventions? I don't know if there are any near you locally. I am lucky enough to have 3 per year near me. If you haven't been they are a lot of fun and you will likely find a bunch of people with similar interests to yours. Many of them are also socially awkward. I wish I had found fandom when I was much younger.

Welcome Jeanne. The first step is admitting you have a problem. Now I'm going to admit to something that not a single friend or family member knows about me: I am a science fiction/fantasy fan and actually moderate two (two!) fanfiction sites. This is quite embarrassing to me because reading or watching that stuff was forbidden in my cult (as was all modern fiction and tv and movies) and my family considers the subject stupid and strange so I never admitted it to them. So yes, you have company here. Now excuse me, because I have to go recover from the shock of having said this on the forum.

Hi Jeanne!
And, Nikita, I'm glad you opened up that closet door.

I'm new here, too.
You sound interesting, some of my friends go to the simulations I've never gone there myself but I've been tempted.
I'm totally into Science fiction but even more into science reality (at least in the Biological world :-))
I hope to get to know you better.
