Martha Peace is well know among the women in Fundamentalist Evangelical circles for her book "The excellent wife". I guess these women would easily visit her website and follow her counsel in difficult situations, right?
Here's the Q&A page from her website. Aparently, counseling is all about labeling which sin you are living in and the solution is to repent. There is little (if any!) talk about what may be causing the sinful behavior. Focus is on the sin and on eradicating it, rather than healing the wounds and helping people overcome the sin once they understand what is causing it (if it is even sin at all!)

Could it be that QF and generally Fundie-evangelicals are more interested in banishing sin from the camp, maintaining their "authority" and, generally, managing and controlling the flock's life than in "feeding the sheep" and serving them?
For example, one piece of advice given to a girl suffering bulimia goes like this:
It is likely that you feel guilty and embarrassed about this, but, since God "gives grace to the humble," I strongly suggest that you get help from the elders in your church. They, likely, will send you to a medical doctor for an examination and also will assign a godly, older woman in the church to disciple you and hold you accountable.
Why must this girl go to the elders (all men, Martha Peace doesn't believe in women elders.) and let THEM send her to the doctor and apoint an older woman to disciple her and hold her accountable? Wouldn't it be a lot more helpful and compassionate to encourage the girl to speak with someone SHE can trust who can go with her to a doctor and who can be there for her when she needs a friend?
The list of Qs and As is worth reading just to see the pattern. It is so lacking in love, caring, mercy, compassion....
Ps. I posted this link on the thread "the sickness 1" too.
