Hi, Where to begin? Well I was brought up here in the great land of Australia...Sadly however, Australia hasn't missed out on the craziness that is the fundamentalist/conservative christian religion. So many friends of mine I knew growing up experienced some form of abuse...much of it (including extreme levels of spanking etc) condoned and promoted by the church... My family and many of the others, part of that particular church community, were later destroyed by the very same specter of abuse. One man in particular, fled the country: the charges against him were so severe. My own father was jailed for a number of years on over 100 charges... My mother to a point, is still in denial about the truth and reality of the church we were involved in. But thankfully now she does accept the truth and abusive reality of our own family (even though it took a very long time). I will, at some stage sit down and write my story in more length and depth...It is a bit long and convoluted....but I will get there: I promise . I do blog at times on the reality of that conservative/fundie church: princessjo1988.blogspot.com/ Jo

Hello Jo, it is nice to see you here as I have been reading your blog for about a year now! I am pretty sure I just clicked on the link from a comment you posted at Heart's womensspace.org a long time ago and have been reading it ever since. I've never commented because your blog always felt kind of personal and not meant for total strangers. I am also in Aus, and I look forward to your posts here

Hello, Jo ~ Welcome I will, at some stage sit down and write my story in more length and depth...It is a bit long and convoluted....but I will get there: I promise . I do hope you will share more of your story. I believe there's a real power for healing and understanding in the telling of our experiences ~ and as each of us adds our own ~ we're creating a dynamic place of compassion for QF/P refugees. Thanks for doing your part in building the No Longer Quivering community.

Oh wow Arietty! Congratulations for putting up with all my ramberlings for that long. And feel free to comment: I am a really open, open person, so go crazy Vyckie, I plan on it, but as I said, my story is very convoluted, and I have never sat down and wrote it from start to finish (not that there is an ending yet!). I put various bits into Victim Impact statements for the courts and blog entries, but never got it all down together...because well, for starters, it is just so long. You're putting me to shame! I do agree sharing the story is a major part of healing: and helping others.
