Hello. You can call us VS. We are 30, a graduate student expecting to get our EdM in ESL education, and a Unitarian. We are physically female. After getting our EdM, we're planning on moving to St Petersburg, Russia to teach English. For now, we teach and tutor in our local city district and we specialise in reading/literacy advocacy. We are also a multiple system of about 8 people, 3 of whom will "front" or speak to people outside of the system. We are very interested in religion, particularly the patriarchy movement. When growing up, we had several friends in born again families, and they across the board developed serious drug addictions, psychological problems or attempted/committed suicide by high school. We were raised Catholic, but don't appreciate the church or its teachings. One of us had aspirations to join the clergy but was discouraged because he wasn't able to be more than a nun. While interacting on the forum, we'll sign with initials so people can keep track of who they're speaking to. Thanks --L

Welcome, visualsyntax!
Am I understanding correctly, that you have multiple personalities?

One of us had aspirations to join the clergy but was discouraged because he wasn't able to be more than a nun. I'd sure like to have that one explained. "He" was not able to be more than a nun. Is linnea on to something here?

I recognize the terminology--this is most likely a person with multiple personalities.

Even though I've just joined, I want to welcome VS. This is a very warm and accepting group.
For those who are confused, VS is writing in the plural in terms used by those with Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) which used to be called Multiple Personality Disorder. The reason that one of them could only become a nun would be because while that (forgive me, VS, I don't know what term you use for your alters) personality is male, the physical body they share is female, as noted in the introduction. Hence, he could never be a priest.
I am in no way an expert on this type of consciousness, but I do know that DID is often associated with trauma which makes it no surprise to me that VS should show up on this forum. I will very gently note that those who publicly reveal themselves as having DID are often met with extreme hostility and disbelief.

Hi VS (L) et al--
I've had a couple of friends with DID so I have some idea where you're coming from and it sounds like you've all worked out a good system among yourselves. I was thinking that if three of you will be doing most of the talking, perhaps they could do separate intros so we have some picture of who is talking? If you are all comfortable with that, of course.
Welcome! I hope to hear a lot more from you (all).
