I'm currently a Unitarian Universalist agnostic, who desperately wants a better world and yet is prone to being quite grouchy at times (if insufficient sleep) and occasionally tailgates/curses out people who drive slow in the left lane.
Years ago, I lasted 3 days in a cult-like Christian group and it was 3 days of my life I would like back. Or not, because the experience probably kept me from greater harm later. Something very deep and powerful within me protected me. Plus I had other good influences in my life. (I am grateful.)
As long ago as that was, I am still intensely interested in this kind of thing. How do people (especially women) get caught up in things like "quiverfull"? I am incapable of seeing them as simply "not like me", because it totally could have been me.

Welcome,
I, too, have a UU background. When you have time, some of Vyckie's earlier posts, some months back now, tell about one woman's intellectual struggles with the sort of male domination and religious indoctrination that allow the "quiverful" thing to happen.
Your cult experience should make you particularly empathic as well.
