Hi. I’ve been a lurker for quite some time. I tend to do that. It takes me a while to feel comfortable enough with a community to actually introduce myself. I’ve been here though since I found the site through the Katheryn Joyce article on Salon back in March.
Stuff like the quiverfull movement interests me quite a bit, partially because if I hadn’t been raised by comparatively semi-moderate parents (still very conservative though) I think I probably could have fallen into something of that nature very easily. Then again, since I consider my Baptist elementary school (Gah! Nine years in that place!) to be part of the reason I rebelled against the whole thing later on I guess I'll never know. Then again, I’m fairly certain I’m the only liberal in my extended family and quite a few of my cousins went to the same school. To be honest it’s kind of odd, considering my fairly quiet demeanor, to think of myself as the rebellious one in the family. Anyway, it feels good to finally introduce myself after so long. Hopefully I’ll actually break out of my shell a bit and quit lurking so much.
