Hi everyone, I call myself Phatchick and I am, in no particular order, a BBW, photographer, SCA bard, office drone, former Baptist bible thumper, coffee addict and semi-professional smartass. I found this site while looking through links on another ex-fundy site I was posting on (sadly trolls found it and it's no longer a safe place). In many ways this just what I needed, a place where I can be with other ex-fundy women who work to build each other up.
I grew up General Association Baptist (for those not familiar with the denom, we split off from the SB because they were too liberal. I am NOT making this up.). I grew up in the 70s before QF and home schooling became widespread in fundy circles but there were already a number of those attitudes prevailing even then. I'm the oldest of 6 kids, there was another family with 7 and my best friend at our church was the middle kid of 5. And we were taught that there was a big world out there, full of sin and evil and a god who was waiting to smite us for even thinking about it.
Nowadays, I worry about sin a lot less, mostly because I no longer attend a fundy church and consequently no longer consider movies, rock music, non-xtain books and TV shows and drinking beer to be sinful. Needless to say, I'm a lot happier. I'm quite happily married to a big cuddly teddy bear of a guy (who I refer to as the Bear) and we're owned by (First rule of cat ownership, the cat owns you. Deal.) a large, fluffy Maine Coon mix known as Max the Wondercat (aka Max, Maxicat, Fluffy or Catzilla). I'm looking forward to meeting everyone here.
