Unequally Yoked: A Story of Submission to an Unbeliever ~ Part 1: Introduction by Runawaybride nolongerquivering.com/2010/02/18/unequally-yoked-a-story-of-submission-to-an-unbeliever/Runawaybride is adding hers to the growing collection of NLQ stories ~ I really believe that the more former QFers who are willing to speak out at No Longer Quivering ~ the harder it is for Quiverfull leaders to ignore our collective voice. Thank you so much, Runawaybride ~ may you find support, encouragement, and validation for your strength and courage in walking away from such an insidious worldview and its consequent lifestyle. ![:-*](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/kiss.png) While searching for graphics to illustrate Runawaybride's story ~ we came across these bears in all manner of dress ~ and decided they'll add some fun and lightheartedness to her story of brainwashing and abuse which is otherwise quite horrific. In the chat room, I have mentioned what I'm calling the NLQ OMG! Factor ~ an admittedly subjective way of rating the sheer unbelievable outrageousness of the abuse which women have endured due to strict adherence to the QF beliefs. Runawaybride's story: Unequally Yoked ~ A Story of Submission to an Unbeliever will definitely add to the over-all NLQ OMG! Factor ~ which is already over the top. ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png) (((((Hugs to you, Runawaybride))))) ~ and thanks again for sharing.

OH painful to read, the lure "Perhaps it was the wholesome, healthy happy people and beautifully dressed children – the kind of life I wanted my daughter to have."
Indeed.

I haven't even finished reading your post yet, but I had to comment about your hyperemisis. Yes, yes, yes! Me, too! And my a$$ of a doctor (1st and 2nd pregnancy) just treated me terribly. REQUIRED me to participate in counseling. And I was 24 and sick as a dog, so I just tried to go along.
Grrrr! I get mad just thinking about it.

OH painful to read, the lure "Perhaps it was the wholesome, healthy happy people and beautifully dressed children – the kind of life I wanted my daughter to have." Indeed. Me too, me too ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) I fell for the idea that if you can just figure out what to do, follow all the rules and have God on your side, I could finally have that happy, functional family that I wanted so much as a child. The sick part was that near the end, I knew younger moms were looking at my family with my 8 kids - as obedient as robots - and had that same look in their eyes as I did at the start. And I knew I was just perpetuating the fairy tale. It was all so fake and I started getting sick to my stomach! Just wanted to say "No!! It's not how it looks - these kids are not happy and I'm about to have a nervous breakdown."

I agree with Princessjo and Wanderingone I'd really like to hear the rest of your story. A story like yours (submission to an unbeliever) is one we haven't heard from any of the other guests bloggers and it's a very valuable one. You could help many people by telling it. Please consider coming back!
