I'm Leslie, and I'm in my late twenties, happily married and hoping to have kids in the next couple of years. I wasn't raised in any religious tradition and I consider myself a liberal, feminist atheist, but I'm fascinated by femininity, religion and culture so I've been interested for a long time in the messages sent out by mainstream culture, feminist writers and religious groups. I'm a domestic, introverted geek who overthinks everything, and I love to read, cook and watch movies. I've been reading this blog since the Salon article, but I haven't commented yet - I don't like arguing and I tend to lurk anyways. I'm amazed by the strength of Laura and Vyckie and how they're putting out their stories here, and this is the first blog I've read for which I subscribed to the comments RSS feed, since the discussion has been so interesting. Nice to meet everyone!

Hey Leslie, welcome to the boards! We'll make sure there is always some non-debate style discussion going for you so you don't have to permanently lurk

Hi Leslie! I'm not much into debating either, especially online. That's one reason I never commented at the blog. I think forums are much better for communication.

Hi Leslie! I don't like arguing but I do enjoy discussing and learning about how other people see things from their own perspective. I hope we have plenty of those kinds of discussions where people aren't trying to persuade each other but simply explain their point of view.
