Here I am introducing myself, as is the custom here. Married, 2 kids, Church has not played much of a part in my life and I consider myself fortunate for it. This has excluded me from a few things but also allowed me to have my own mind about things. My kids have no church whatsoever. I know I am going to enjoy it here though I will probably be on rarely. I do not believe women should be referred to as "broodmares" by other women who hate patriarchy, and I am not the one who said anyone was a "broodmare", it was another commenter.

Hello back at you!
How did you come across this blog and forums? I saw an article on a news compiler and realized I could learn a lot about what I always thought of as 'my mom's crazy multiple weird church things.'
I know a lot of people here are previous 'insiders' in the QF movement. It's nice to see someone else who doesn't really go for the church thing (I've tried, and I can't make it through a service anymore...)
Did want to ask you one thing - do you live in an area where most people are (or pretend to be) Christian? If so, how are you finding the whole non-churched kids thing? If I ever do have kids myself (which may not happen) I'm wrestling with the idea of keeping them away from the whole mess, but I'm dead center of the Bible Belt and have no idea how that could even work.
Good to see you on here!
(and re: The Duggars, I agree about the name-calling as well - even if it is partially Michelle's responsibility that her family is out of whack, it doesn't help anything to stand back and call names.)

Welcome!
How old are your children? I can understand staying away from church and benefitting from some of that. I had pretty rough church experiences growing up but that was due less to church and more to my parents. But still...I'm glad you found us and look forward to seeing you around as often or rare as that may be.

Hello. Glad to meet you! With regards to "broodmare," to me there's an issue of whether it's name-calling, intended as an insult-- or whether it's intended just to be descriptive of how the Quiverfull movement, at its heart, views women. Someone said that in Quiverfull, children were "workhorses." This isn't intended as an insult to the kids-- it's a protest against what QF does to kids. It all comes down to intent, I think, when words like "broodmare" are used.

Hi! And welcome, again! I don't remember exactly who used the term "broodmare" but I do remember deciding to take it as descriptive rather than as an insult. But (and it's a big one!) a lot of very basic feminism concerns getting rid of the model that equates women with (own-able, docile or *wild*) animals. So on that level I'm not real super fond of that particular "descriptive" myself. Okay, well, welcome a third time and here's hoping to see you around
