Hello!
I'm Simesse. I'm in my late 20's, recently married, with no kids. I was doing a web search on Christianity and choosing to be childless, when I found an article on which Vyckie had commented, which led me to the NLQ site.
I started reading out of curiosity but soon became amazed at both Vyckie and Laura's stories. I want to applaud both these ladies for their courage and for then taking the time to share their experiences. Before reading NLQ, all I knew about QF was that they thought God should determine the number of kids they had.
I come from a conservative mainstream Christian background. My church taught Eph. 5:22-24 (women submitting), but they also taught Eph. 5:25-31 (husbands loving their wives as Christ loved the church). The verses were always preached together, and a pastor once asked, "Why is it that women only get 2 verses, while the men have 6 verses? Maybe it's because men need everything spelled out for them!"
I consider myself a liberal Christian. I do not think my own views are right for everyone, and I think everyone has a right to their own beliefs. My husband and I have an egalitarian relationship, and I think women should be allowed the same roles in church as men.
I have learned alot from the blog (QF, Patriarchy, Christian Egalitarianism, oh my!) , and I have enjoyed reading everyone's comments. Thank you, ladies, for providing a forum where people with all different perspectives can share their thoughts.
