Is the community that's developing here absolutely incredible ~ or what?!!
Thanks to all of you who have posted your introductions ~ what a powerful gathering of amazing individuals we have here. Aimai said it so well when she wrote:
I think one of the things that is most interesting and exciting to me, about Vyckie and Laura's blog, is the way so many things seem to come together in one place--and how many interesting, dynamic, thoughtful women are out there looking for a place to talk about them. I've been reading around on religious blogs for a while--I was thinking for a while about writing a blog post about them called "Welcome to Gilead 2.0" over at my other blog home If I Ran the Zoo where I write about politics. But if you'd told me that I would have found a place where such incredible women are detoxing themselves with such honesty and vigor--like Swedes jumping out of a sauna and birching themselves in a snowbank--I'd never have believed it possible. When you are *inside* the movement, or reading inside it, the very idea of refuseniks or refugees seems impossible.
I've spent the last few days trying to get ahead on my writing because on Monday, I have to take the three girls who have the bone condition to Minneapolis for a check-up ~ so I won't have a lot of time and access to the computer ~ but hopefully, my "advanced preparation" means that we'll still be posting new items over on the blog while we're gone.
I say, "we" not in the royal sense ~ but because Laura will be joining me in Minneapolis ~ I can't wait to see my friend again!!
Anyway ~ I have been reading all these wonderful introductions and want to get a chance to post a personal response and "welcome" to each one of you. BUT ~ I can't get to it right away. So ~ here's a general, "Hello!" and "Welcome!" And if I haven't yet said the same in response to your introduction ~ have patience, 'cuz I'm gonna do it.
